Quick Battery Test
Press the following key combination:
Ctrl + Search (Caps Lock) + Esc
This will open Chrome's quick diagnosis panel. There you can find battery tests, keyboard tests and other useful information.
Some Notes on Batteries
After the initial boot with the power adapter, unplug the power adapter and the chromebook should act normally, being able to turn the device on and off with only the battery.
Using CROSH to test battery discharge
From your Desktop use the key combination:
Ctrl + Alt + T
Run command:
battery_firmware info
Then run:
battery_test [< test length >]
The test length is measured in seconds. if no number is put in, then the test length will default to 300 seconds.
Less than 1% over 5 min
Battery Testing Guidelines
1. Confirm the battery is in physically acceptable condition:
a. No tears or punctures.
b. Screw anchors and/or clips intact.
c. Cable and/or connector is intact.
All criteria are TRUE = PASS
Any criteria are FALSE = FAIL
2. Confirm the battery’s wattage and voltage, as indicated on it’s label, matches the power requirements of the device.
3. Confirm fitment of the battery in the device:
a. Screw anchors or clips are in the correct positions.
b. Battery cable or cable connector is in the correct position.
4. Install the battery in the intended device, plug in DC power supply, and power the device on.
5. Confirm the battery is charging.
6. Inside Chrome OS, perform a battery health check:
a. Hit Ctrl + Alt + t
to open the Crosh.
b. Type battery test 30
and hit Enter.
Battery health over 80% = PASS
Battery health under 80% = FAIL
